Well, actually it’s a Japanese doll and it’s made from wood, but I prefer the title the way it is.

We went to Japan last year to visit my brother-in-law in who’s currently working for Toyota in Nagoya. It’s a crazy country and I love it very much, I hope we have the opportunity to go back some time in the future.

Penguin watch, originally uploaded by AndyLane78.

Not a lot occuring to me at the moment so I’m posting this picture for my dad (he loves penguins).

I took this at the Sea-Life Centre in Nagoya Port (Japan) and I think it came out pretty well considering it was indoors, poorly lit and from behind glass.

However I processed it with the other 90 pictures I decided to publish from my trip to Japan and, looking at it again I wonder if it could do with some more TLC. I love good black and white conversions and the more I look at it the more I think I could have done a better job with it.

I’m definitely one of those Photographers that’s into the post processing part of the hobby. I agree that you can’t make a bad photo look good in the dark-room but you can make a good photo look awsome!

I have returned from the land of the rising sun a more relaxed and sleepy man. The jet lag is still rocking my world with 9pm bed times and waking up bright-eyed and bushy tailed at 5am. I’m not sure how long this is going to last for but I’m not totally against it … although I do hope it doesn’t make me drop off during the new series of Heroes which starts tonight on BBC2!

Anyway, we went a bit photo-crazy in Japan last week, I think I took close to 1000 photos but don’t worry the final collection on my flickr site is going to be a palatable 40 or so when they’re all edited and uploaded.

Much praise must got to my Brother-in-Law, Martin, for putting up with me and his sister stopping every 10 seconds to take a photo of something! In honour of him I link a YouTube video of the Mighty Jed an off-the-wall commentator who dedicated his internet broadcasts to the New Zealand All Blacks … enjoy!

It’s been a busy morning, sorted out my International driving permit, got a fist full of yen, found my passport, sorted out directions to the airport and have done my packing! Now I just have to book the long-stay carparking, clear my camera’s memory card and tidy the house. No rest for the wicked!

I hope to bring you some photoblogging while I’m on my trip to the land of the rising sun so keep an eye out here for some posts and I’l be posting on my flickr site too so watch this space!

I’m off to Japan soon, just for a week but it should be a great trip to see my Brother-in-Law who’s out there working and to do as much sightseeing as possible! I’ll probably be dragged around various amazing places that my wife has researched months in advance but I’ll be happily clicking away on my camera and trying to commit everything to memory.
